50,118

As of 5:10 today I reached my goal and was declared a NANOWRIMO winner. WHOOP WHOOP!

And what is really cool is I have aa awesome story that I will continue to work on. I'd like to get another 50,000 words on it and then edit it down to 90G's or so and have it ready for submission. I'll have to come up with a reasonable date for that goal. Tomorrow.

Right now, I'm going to take a nap and reacquaint my self with my family and a very large mountain of laundry.

Songs that inspire me #3

NaNoWriMo needs a title track...

Ok I am blaming this on too much coffee, not enough sleep and an overabundance of alpha waves this month. Everytime I hear this song I think about the writing process during November. *G*

3,800 words to go and I'm a winner!!
(hit 'em right between the eyes, hit 'em right between the eyes)

The end is in sight...

Barring anything unforeseen,
(No, I'm not speaking about you right now Fates. Someone is tempting you, somewhere else.)

I think I'm going to make it to the finish line this year. I just crested 36,000 words. Holy Woo-Fucking-Hoo. I really am excited. It's not that the words are flowing from my fingers, but I am truly enjoying this story and look forward to seeing what happens next. Since this is a month long exercise in being a pantster, I truly have no clue where is it going.

No let me rephrase that. I know where it's going, but don't know how it's getting there. So far it's a hell of a ride.

Procrastination Station

How cool is this.... It's my very own book cover. *G*

You too can make your own book cover HERE. I was having a little too much fun with it, but this one was my favourite.

Should be writing, I know but I am just taking a bit of a break. I'm still very much behind but it's not so much that I can't finish. Currently, the count is 14,197. Not too bad considering I've done the bulk of that in the last week. If I keep up this pace I should crest 50G's just before midnight on the 30st.

Thankfully, my story idea is coming along nicely. I spent 3 days talking to my three main characters on paper. Just wrote page after page of my asking them questions and them answering them. You know it worked. I came up with twists that I didn't know about and they revealed little hints about their lives that I can intertwine into the story. My hero is still in too good a shape, I'll have to rough him up a bit more before the end. No one likes a perfect hero, at least I don't. *G*

The hardest part is not going back and rereading what I have written. That's my rule #4392. Just keep writing, no looking back until December.

See you in a few days

Oh where, Oh where, Can I dich my overabundance of procrastination?

So according to my original plan today I should be cresting the 18,000 word mark. Official count....4409. Yikes. I do have a lovely excuse for not doing a damn thing this weekend. I just got home from a 48hour get away with hubby, celebrating our 12 anniversary.

Fun time over, I've got to get to work. As long as I stay on course and do at least 2G's per day for the rest of the month I should be ok. I might have some crunch time near the 30th but thankfully I have the weekend of the 29th off. That will help give me any extra time I need.

Thinking about it today I realized that I am writing a book. Yes, I realize that is what I want to do be really that isn't what NaNoWriMo is all about. This month is about quantity not quality. Throwing all sorts of words at the wall, regardless of their correct spelling or punctuation.

Bah! A pox on punctuation

In celebration of this moment of freedom that I hope to maintain for the next 21 days. Here is another really helpful link I got from the Unliterary Mother Land

This site is called Serendipity, and it has all sorts of generators. Two of my personal favourites are Plot Twists, and the Cuss-O-Matic.

Now if you will excuse me apparently...At this juncture a assassin starts shouting 'Holy bastard child of a volatile orc-faced giraffe!'

wow not sure how I'm going to work that in but at least I shouldn't have a problem making the word count.

Today is what?

Today is day 3 of NaNoWriMo and as I was reminded yesterday, I have been incredibly silent around here for the last month. It's true I admit guilt, gots a great reason though. Vacation mind meld. You know that wonderful euphoric feeling you get on a beach in Florida where you can pretend that there are no bills, work, phone calls, laundry to do. You exist to soak up the sun, knit and read.

OOPS It took longer to get my brain back into real life. I did manage to finish knitting my shawl before NaNo. Then this morning I wake up and realize that it is the 3rd.

THIRD!!! According to my NaNo schedule by tonight I should have 6000 words done. **Looking at count** 500....ouch I had better get to work.

Good news is I have an awesome dream last night. The kind that while I was dreaming I was making mental notes about how good of a book this would make and all the clever twists in it. Too bad I could only remember the end when I woke up. I'm hoping that if I start writing it my subconscious will give up those lovely little sleep induced gems. At least I managed to get the ending down and some very general plot points.

Here is a really interesting site I found via the NaNoWriMo site. The technique is called Mind Mapping, and is a brainstorming tool. I think I'm going to have to play with this a bit. Looks like fun and perfect for digging into forgotten dreams.

Too bad I can't count blog posts towards my final count LOL
